Hello, I'm Margaret Miller and welcome to my website.

We can all experience emotional challenges around changes that we have faced in the past, are trying to deal with now or are desperately wanting to make. When we are struggling, even if we have support from family and friends it seems that they may want to give us advice to solve what they see as our problems, without acknowledging our experiences and feelings. Also, it may be hard for us to tell those we care about what we are struggling with or how difficult our feelings really are due to fear criticism or of causing upset and concern.

The therapeutic space gives you an opportunity to talk freely, without the need to filter your views and experiences, to enable you to gain the self awareness that is often required to making lasting changes in our lives.
Training:

I am an experienced accredited therapist with a Post Graduate Diploma (PGDip) in Counselling and Psychotherapy practice. Accredited status with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) means that I have under taken substantial, non-essential, additional work to evidence the quality of my practice for this professional registration body and also for my current and future clients.
I offer a professional, confidential, non-judgemental therapeutic relationship within which we can explore your concerns and work towards the outcomes you are seeking.

My way of working is underpinned by therapeutic training in the person-centred, cognitive behavioural (CBT) and solution focused (SFT) approaches (see- How I work ).

Experience:

As well as working in my private practice I have been a volunteer therapist at both Wirral Mind and Age UK Wirral and I am also currently an affiliate counsellor accepting referrals from Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs).

I have experience of working with a wide variety of client issues ranging from anxiety, depression, bereavement, unresolved childhood experiences, relationship breakdowns and difficulties, work related stress, loss of identity, self-image problems, low self-esteem, lack of motivation and coping with sudden life changes. I am able to offer short term counselling, to work to a fixed number of sessions model or to provide longer term, open ended therapy.

Other relevant experience:

In the past I have undertaken studies in both social work and psychology and in addition to working part-time as a therapist, I also currently continue to work part-time as a qualified, experienced social worker for adults. I have over 30 years' experience of working in social care and believe this enhances my therapeutic work, as it provides a deeper understanding about the diversity of challenges life can present.
